Richard had no answer.
Daniel continued.
“You treated respect like something people earn after proving their value.”
The room became quiet.
“But every person here had value before you knew their name.”
Richard finally admitted:
“I judged you by how you looked.”
Daniel nodded.
“Yes.”
“I was wrong.”
Daniel looked at the crowd.
“The mistake was not failing to recognize a billionaire.”
Richard listened carefully.
“The mistake was believing ordinary people deserve less respect.”
Nobody spoke.
Daniel did not demand that Richard lose his job.
