A strike.
A step.
A follow-up.
But Daniel wasn't there.
Ryan stopped.
Confused.
The students looked at each other.
Nobody understood.
Daniel hadn't moved quickly.
He had simply moved at the perfect moment.
Ryan attacked again.
Harder.
This time with more speed.
Daniel avoided every strike.
Not by force.
Not by blocking.
By understanding.
He wasn't fighting Ryan's body.
He was reading his intention.
Ryan stepped back.
“How are you doing that?”
Daniel smiled.
“Doing what?”
Ryan became frustrated.
“You’re avoiding everything.”
Daniel nodded.
“Yes.”
“How?”
The old man looked at him.
“Because you tell me what you’re going to do before you do it.”
The students became silent.
Ryan looked confused.
“I do?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
Daniel pointed gently.
“Your shoulders.”
