"Mr. Sterling, please, I have a family—" Braddock begged, genuine tears now welling in his eyes.
"So do I," Marcus said coldly, glancing at Maya. "And my daughter just had to watch her father get brutalized in the lobby of his own company. You are fired, effectively immediately." Marcus reached down, picking up the shattered pieces of his tablet. "But it doesn't end there. Maya, call the legal team. Tell them to draft a termination of contract for the entire weekend security firm. Then, call the police."
Braddock choked on a sob. "The police?"
"Yes," Marcus said, turning toward the private executive elevators. "You assaulted me. You unlawfully detained me. You will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law." Marcus pressed the button for the 42nd floor, stepping into the gold-plated car alongside his daughter. He looked back at Braddock one last time as the doors began to close. "Next time you tell someone they don't belong, make sure you know exactly whose house you're standing in."
The doors slid shut, leaving Braddock alone in the grand lobby with nothing but the ruins of his own arrogance.
