Eleanor’s face turned an ash-white color. The smug arrogance instantly evaporated from her eyes, replaced by a cold, paralyzing terror as she stared at the official court stamps gleaming on the top page. "This... this is a forgery! You're lying! You planted these!" Eleanor shrieked, her voice cracking into a desperate, high-pitched squeal as she tried to sweep the papers off the table. Before she could grab them, two county sheriff deputies stepped through the double doors, flanked by Officer Miller who looked entirely relieved to be on the winning side for once. "Mrs. Eleanor Vance?" the lead deputy asked, his hand resting casually on his utility belt. "You need to come with us. We have a warrant for your arrest regarding unlawful entry, theft of property, and embezzlement of community funds." The entire boardroom fell into a stunned, breathless silence. The other board members stared at Eleanor in utter betrayal, realizing the monster they had blindly trusted for over a decade had been stealing from them the entire time. Eleanor’s legs buckled slightly, and she had to grip the edge of the mahogany table for support. "No... no, you can't do this! I am Oakwood Estates! I made this neighborhood what it is!" she sobbed hysterically, her carefully curated facade of untouchable suburban royalty completely shattering into a million pieces. As the deputies stepped forward and placed cold steel handcuffs around her wrists, the heavy oak front doors of the clubhouse swung open once more. Standing outside in the driveway was Eleanor’s husband of thirty years, holding two suitcases. He had just received the bank alert notifying him that all their joint accounts had been frozen by federal court order due to the ongoing fraud investigation. He took one look at his wife in handcuffs, set the suitcases down on the wet asphalt, turned around, and walked away without uttering a single word.
SHE THOUGHT HER HOA BADGE GAVE HER THE RIGHT TO TERRORIZE A NEW NEIGHBOR, BUT WHEN SHE TAPPED ON THE WRONG DOOR, THE POLICE HANDCUFFED HER INSTEAD OF THE INNOCENT OWNER IN A SHOCKING DOWNFALL.
