Chapter 1 — The Customer Nobody Took Seriously
The luxury automobile showroom was filled with people who looked exactly like they belonged there.
Men in expensive suits walked between million-dollar vehicles. Wealthy couples discussed performance numbers while salespeople followed them closely, offering coffee, private tours, and endless attention.
Then an older Black man quietly stepped through the glass doors.
His appearance immediately changed the atmosphere.
He wore a simple brown jacket, faded jeans, and old leather shoes. He carried a small notebook under his arm and looked more like a retired mechanic than someone who could afford anything inside the showroom.
His name was Marcus Bennett.
But nobody there knew that.
A young salesman named Ethan noticed him standing near a limited-edition sports car. Instead of greeting him, Ethan watched him suspiciously.
The older man gently looked at the vehicle’s engine design, studying every detail.
“That’s an impressive machine,” Marcus said softly.
Ethan walked over with a forced smile.
“Sir, those cars are usually shown to serious buyers,” he said.
Marcus looked confused.
“I’m sorry. I was just interested in the engineering.”
